ISAAC
In the 70's, Rod Stewart sang a song with the title "Every Picture Tells a Story", this should probably be our theme song. Our goal is always to tell a story. Sometimes the story is told with no props in the studio on a simple background. Other times, it is the location and clothing that tell the story. But regardless, the real story comes from the face. Look closely at Isaac's face, I know we like the story that is his!

a PARABLE
You may have heard the parable about three stone cutters who were working at the side of the road. When asked what they were doing, the first replied "I am making a living". The second said, "I am doing the best job of stone cutting in my country". And the final one replied, "I am building a cathedral."
This came form a book I just finished reading, "Peak", by Chip Conley. The sub title is, "How Great Companies Get Their Mojo from Maslow", a really good read.
By the way, which stone cutter were you today?

the BAILEYS
When I was first called to do this portrait, I was reminded of all the great times I had with the grandfather in this portrait. Except he and I weren't grandfathers then, we were just two best friends at Enid High, in fact he was the "Best Man" at the wedding of Jolene and I in 1972. And now we're just a couple of older guys. Anyway, he wanted a portrait of his family in their favorite football teams jerseys, so I thought what could I do to show them off properly? With me up above them laying on the ground, I knew I could see all the team colors, and still show their expressions properly, and have a really cool, different portrait!

4 ROOMS OUT OF 2
In the maternity shop that was previously in our new location, this was the front area that was used for the clothing displays as well as the dressing room. It is becoming our gallery, theater, office, workroom, and hallway. If you look close, you can see the wall outlines on the floor. Thanks for your positive comments.

NEW STUDIO LOCATION
As you have probably guessed, we are moving.
Who. ......"the Grays Professional Photography and Digital Art"
What......."our location"
When......"July 1"
Where....."224 Sunset Plaza" (next door to Costellos's)
Why........."after 28 years in the same location, it's time for a change"
But, there will be no changes other than the location and decor, same "the Grays", and the same professional photography and digital art!
We will keep you posted here on the blog as things go on.
And most of all, thanks for your support in the past 33 years!

Dr JONES
When I was talking with Dr. Jones, he mentioned one of his favorite photographs was a picture of the founder of "Osteopathic" medicine in sepia tones looking at a human bone. What a great reason for a different portrait, one that reflects his personality. Dr. Jones, I'm glad you let me do this, I'm also happy you were pleased with the results!

Dr ERIN ROBERTS and STAFF
Since the change to digital capture from film in 2004, we have certainly taken a lot more business and press release portraits. Sometimes these are simple "head shots" for newspaper use, other times they are for a gallery in the business (as in this case). Regardless, we can help with your marketing by creating a portrait that is thought out in advance for your own particular branding. And, we can also help at a price that will work in your budget!
And as in a previous post for some other portraits we have done for her, Dr. Roberts and her staff were just incredible to work with.
