When we were talking with Shae to plan his senior portrait, I was very impressed with how focused he seemed to be, that is probably why I like this portrait so much, I believe it shows this extreme focus that he has.
Is a photographer who publishes a photograph taken by another photographer guilty of plagiarism, or just crazy?

Design in a portrait is accomplished in many ways. Color, location, angle, pose, clothing, expression, and lighting. I believe this portrait has all of that...plus a little extra...love! Thanks for letting us show that love.

Kelley, John Lennon once sang, "Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans". I know that is what occurred with this portrait. Our original concept was to do this with an old barn, but when we drove to the location, Johnson grass was at least six feet tall and all I could think of was the chiggers I got into when I was a kid, so we started to look for another barn, and we looked, and looked, found a barn that had deteriorated so badly it didn't even look like a barn....then we saw these hay bales, and both of us knew it was the right spot. I hope everyone else agrees.
The expression once again is everything....the eyes, the mouth, the tuck of the chin....Randi, it's just incredible!

As Elisa and Brian walked out of the church, the organist began to play "The Hallelujah Chorus", every one said I should have been there to see a wave of smiles wash across everyones face, I'm sorry we weren't :-).

This is another musician from the "Killer EHS Drum Line". Daniel's parents told me that what is so great about this composite is how it just doesn't only show that "drummer expression", but also the game day look.
This has been a great summer for us with engagement portraits, in fact coming up soon we will be showcasing another.
"Board of Director" portraits are one of the main stays of our studio. We photograph people from all over Oklahoma and southern Kansas for these boards, so it is always an honor when they also choose to give these portraits to family as gifts. Usually we are able to stay on top of this and give our clients the stellar service they expect, but in this case, we dropped the ball (well actually, we didn't drop it, we just forgot to ship it) and missed a very important gift date for this family. Our sincere apologies go out to them publicly, and if we ever get the chance to work with them again, they can expect us to give them the professional service we can.
The original title for this blog was going to be "All Dressed Up and Somewhere To Go". So many of my clients love the idea of casual clothing and therefore choose a casual portrait. But not the case this time for Joe and Roberta. Roberta's job gave the the opportunity to attend a formal gathering in Branson, and Joe came up with the idea for this photograph, and while the clothing is formal, the pose is not. Ten years ago when I started studying the great portrait painters of the past 150 years, the one thing that became pretty obvious quickly was that at first glance, the paintings looked very formal in clothing and style, but in pose, very, very casual. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
